Bangladesh, on Tuesday, created history by whitewashing Jos Buttler-led England in the recently-concluded three-match T20I series. The Bangla Tigers beat the visitors by 16 runs in the third T20I to complete the whitewash over the reigning T20 world champions.<\/p>\n
Asked to bat first, Bangladesh scored 158 for 2 in the allotted 20 overs. Litton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto starred with the bat for the hosts, scoring 73 and 47 not out respectively. At one stage, Bangladesh were looking destined to score well above 180 but England managed to pull things back towards the end as\u00a0Sam Curran and Chris Jordan conceded only 27 runs from the final five overs.<\/p>\n
In reply, England were off to a poor start with opener Phil Salt departing for a golden duck. However, they soon found themselves in the driver\u2019s seat at 100 for 1 after 13 overs thanks to a fine stand between skipper Jos Buttler and in-form Dawid Malan.<\/p>\n However, both the batsmen\u00a0fell in consecutive balls in the 14th over and England\u2019s chase got derailed from that point. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and eventually finished their innings on 142 for 6, 16 runs less than Bangladesh\u2019s total.<\/p>\n Speaking after the humiliating whitewash, Jos Buttler did not beat around the bush as he admitted that his team was outplayed by the hosts. Expressing his disappointment over the loss, the England star congratulated the hosts for their memorable series win.<\/p>\n \u201cReally disappointing to lose the series, congratulations to Bangladesh, they outplayed us completely. We came back well (at the death), we missed some opportunities in the field which is disappointing. The wicket got better as it went on and I thought we did well to restrict them to the total we did.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWe hoped we could chase it down but it didn\u2019t happen. Losing two wickets quickly was crucial.
