Newcastle have submitted an improved \u20ac80million (\u00a370m), plus add-ons bid for striker Benjamin Sesko, talkSPORT understands.<\/strong><\/p>\n However, the Magpies want an answer from the player on whether he wants to join them within 48 hours.<\/p>\n 3<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div> The Magpies<\/a> are confident they can reach an agreement with RB Leipzig with money not thought to be an issue, but do not want the saga to drag on.<\/p>\n That is despite the Toon recently having a club-record offer for the 22-year-old turned down<\/a> by the Bundesliga side over the weekend.<\/p>\n Eddie Howe<\/a>‘s side submitted an offer of \u20ac75million (\u00a365m) plus \u20ac5m (\u00a34.3m) in add-ons.<\/p>\n Leipzig ultimately knocked back the bid as they hold out for at least an initial \u00a370m fee – and a future sell-on clause.<\/p>\n It’s the same price that Leipzig quoted Arsenal<\/a> earlier in the window.<\/p>\n Arsenal subsequently turned their attention to\u00a0signing Viktor Gyokeres<\/a>\u00a0instead after sporting director Andrea Berta was unable to drive the price down.<\/p>\n Sesko has already told his Leipzig teammates he expects to leave this summer.<\/p>\n He banged in 21 goals in all competitions last season to bring his Leipzig tally to 39 strikes in 87 matches in all competitions in his opening two years in Germany.<\/p>\n Manchester United<\/a> are still in the mix for Sesko but are yet to submit a formal offer for the Slovenia international.<\/p>\n Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim has identified the youngster as a key target where he could spearhead United’s new-look attack alongside Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha but the Portuguese is thought to favour an approach for Ollie Watkins.<\/p>\n 3<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div> As reported earlier on Saturday by talkSPORT, United were willing to offer Rasmus Hojlund as a sweetener to land Sesko.<\/p>\n However, the\u00a0<\/span>Dane does not want to make the move<\/a> as he looks to fight for his career at United.<\/p>\n Though it is believed that United are ready to cash in on Hojlund<\/a>, and would prepare to accepts bids of \u00a330m – \u00a342m less than what they paid for him from Atalanta in 2023.<\/p>\n If Newcastle can complete the signing of Sesko<\/a> it is believed they would be more open to selling Alexander Isak<\/a> to Liverpool.<\/p>\n The champions had an offer in excess of \u00a3110m rejected<\/a> for Isak last week.<\/p>\n But they remain keen to sign him, with the Sweden international open to a potential switch to Anfield.<\/p>\n talkSPORT understands that Newcastle value Isak at around \u00a3150m – just three years after signing him from Real Sociedad for \u00a363m.<\/p>\n 3<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div> Should Sesko end up at United instead of Newcastle, or even stay at Leipzig, he would become the latest player that has snubbed a switch to St James’ Park.<\/p>\n They have seen defender Dean Huijsen opt to join Real Madrid when he departed Bournemouth earlier this summer.<\/p>\n Meanwhile Brazilian forward Joao Pedro ended up at Chelsea from Brighton, with Liam Delap also ending up at Stamford Bridge following Ipswich’s relegation.<\/p>\n Elsewhere, Liverpool hijacked their move to sign Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, with Mbeumo signing for United from Brentford.<\/p>\n And goalkeeper James Trafford decided to return to Manchester City, leading to Aaron Ramsdale arriving from Southampton on loan<\/a>.<\/p>\n Newcastle’s only other signing this window has been Anthony Elanga, having paid Nottingham Forest \u00a355m<\/a> to bring in the winger.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n![\"Sesko](\"https:\/\/talksport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/01\/b161b1ac-0a84-48c3-a091-e3bf951a1650.jpg?strip=all&w=960\")
