Australia\u2019s new generation of attackers are set to be unleashed on New Zealand next month as Socceroos coach Tony Popovic broadens his selection options ahead of next year\u2019s FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n

Recalled teenage sensation Nestory Irankunda, and uncapped fellow forwards Noah Botic, Nicolas Milanovic and Adrian Segecic, have been named in the 25-man national squad for the two-game \u201cSoccer Ashes\u201d series against the All Whites.<\/p>\n

The notable omission from the squad is Socceroos captain and goalkeeper Mat Ryan, who only this week ended his long search for a new club when he signed a one-year deal with Spanish outfit Levante.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a guy that is very fit and looks after himself, but he hasn\u2019t had that team training or pre-season games, so we\u2019re very happy that he\u2019s found a club\u201d Popovic said of the 100-cap gloveman.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sure he\u2019ll get back to training and playing very soon, and we look forward to getting him back in camp, hopefully in the next window (in October).\u201d<\/p>\n

While Ryan hasn\u2019t been playing, attacking weapons Irankunda and Segecic have made impressive starts to the English Championship season with Watford and Portsmouth respectively.<\/p>\n

Milanovic has also shown good form in Scotland with Aberdeen, while Botic is working hard to make an impression at Austria Vienna.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve had a lot of young players that have moved from the A-League into Europe, and they\u2019ve continued their good form, and a lot of them have been rewarded by coming into camp,\u201d Popovic said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that these young boys have a lot of potential, and possibly they have two or three World Cups ahead of them, so it\u2019s an exciting camp.\u201d<\/p>\n

The squad\u2019s attacking arsenal also includes emerging talents Sam Silvera (Middlesbrough, England) and Mohamed Toure (Randers, Denmark).<\/p>\n

Overall, seven uncapped players \u2013 Botic, Milanovic, Segecic, midfielders Anthony Kalik and Max Balard, and goalkeepers Paul Izzo and Tom Glover \u2013 have been named in the squad for the games in Canberra (next Friday) and Auckland (September 9).<\/p>\n

Joining Glover, Irankunda and Silvera in being recalled to the squad are midfielders Ajdin Hrustic and Max Balard, central defender Hayden Matthews, right-back Fran Karacic, and left-back Jordan Bos.<\/p>\n

Thirteen players \u2013 Ryan, Daniel Arzani, Aziz Behich, Jason Geria, Kasey Bos, Kai Trewin, Anthony Caceres, Paul Okon-Engstler, Riley McGree, Brandon Borrello, Adam Taggart, Mitch Duke and Marco Tilio \u2013 have been omitted from the squad that sealed World Cup qualification in June for reasons including injuries, a lack of football and a drop in form.<\/p>\n

Still out injured are star pair Jackson Irvine (foot) and Harry Souttar (Achilles).<\/p>\n

\u201cIt gives other players an opportunity, so we\u2019re looking forward to seeing what they can do,\u201d Popovic said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to have a lot of depth going into the World Cup, and we want to have selection headaches. That\u2019s what we\u2019re looking for.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re in the early stages of this journey, but all our energies are now focused on continuing to drive the elite standards that we aspire to and achieving our best result at a World Cup. <\/p>\n
