While talkSPORT understands the Portuguese isn\u2019t likely to get sacked any time soon, even after utter humiliation against Grimsby<\/a>, fans of the club have very different ideas.<\/p>\n

Callers have been blasting their fury down the talkSPORT phonelines following the historic loss against the fourth-tier side in the second round of the Carabao Cup.<\/p>\n

And it\u2019s not just a case of \u2018this guy needs to go\u2019, but plenty are explaining who could do better, and why.<\/p>\n

Amorim is currently the joint favourite as the next Premier League manager to be sacked at 2\/1 with talkSPORT BET<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And even he has hinted that it may not be down to the club<\/a>, saying at his most recent press conference: \u201cSometimes I want to quit, sometimes I want to be here for 20 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

However things transpire over the coming weeks, the cold hard facts are that the two-time Primeira Liga has only made the club worse since replacing the unpopular Erik ten Hag<\/a> in November last year.<\/p>\n

A worst-ever Premier League finish last season was topped off by a Europa League final defeat to Tottenham, and despite heavy backing in the summer window, things look to have started in the same vein with two defeats and a draw.<\/p>\n

Stubbornness has been the key word<\/a> from Amorim\u2019s career, even during his Sporting successes and that\u2019s why caller Carl sees one Premier League rival at the only answer.<\/p>\n

Eddie Howe – 20\/1<\/h2>\n

\u201cI think there\u2019s only one manager. If Amorim\u2019s going to go – and I think he will because managers don\u2019t recover from this sort of situation – I think we\u2019ll just have to break the bank and get Eddie Howe<\/a>,\u201d Carl said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s got Premier League experience, he\u2019s done a fantastic job at Newcastle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Questioned as to why Howe would leave his Champions League side for Old Trafford, Carl responded: \u201cIt\u2019s United. Benjamin Sesko picked us over Newcastle<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Yet in the short term, talkSPORT hosts think another out-of-work manager may be a better fit to save the season.<\/p>\n

Sean Dyche<\/h2>\n

\u201cSean Dyche is a better manager than Solskjaer,\u201d ex-Chelsea defender Jason Cundy said.<\/p>\n

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour agreed, saying: \u201cDyche isn\u2019t a bad shout, he knows how to organise teams.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Breakfast host Alan Brazil responded: \u201cIf Sean was to get the United job you\u2019d right away have fans saying, \u2018Oh god negative football not the United way,’ I guarantee it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Parlour answered \u201cYou would, but he\u2019d get them organised, everybody would know their positions.<\/p>\n

Brendan Rodgers – 16\/1<\/h2>\n

\u201cIs it too big a job for Brendan Rodgers<\/a>?\u201d the Celtic fan asked, only to have it put to him the former Liverpool and Leicester manager wouldn\u2019t want to leave Glasgow.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe might do, he\u2019s been very upset because there was no investment before the Champions League,\u201d Brazil responded.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it\u2019s a totally different game down here, the money they can spend, the players they can get in. Scottish football is buying second rate players.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI do feel like they\u2019ve got to go a different way and even if it\u2019s someone like Southgate,\u201d he told talkSPORT of the former England manager.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cJust give it a go, somebody that\u2019s going to change the mentality of the players and take a more pragmatic approach because what they\u2019ve been doing just isn\u2019t working.\u201d<\/p>\n

Southgate is currently the joint-favourite as next permanent Man United, with the other candidate, an FA Cup winner brought up by another listener.<\/p>\n

Oliver Glasner – 4\/1<\/h2>\n

Caller Roy said: \u201cIt\u2019s abysmal, Amorim totally out of his depth, he\u2019s been here for a year now.<\/p>\n

“As far as I\u2019m concerned we need someone like Glasner from Palace.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have to go for someone like Glasner because you can not see an inch of headway since Amorim turned up to the club, you cannot see anything, he won\u2019t change his system for anything, he won\u2019t adapt.\u201d<\/p>\n
