Took them long enough.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The details:<\/strong> The $110M prize purse is a 300% increase from the 2019 WWC, when FIFA awarded just $30M. FIFA will spend the remaining $42M on WWC prep, up from $20M in 2019, while newly re-elected president Gianni Infantino <a href=\"https:\/\/thegist.createsend1.com\/t\/t-l-fhyjix-jitklkutdj-q\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">promised equal conditions<\/a> for the women.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Infantino believes a portion of the prize purse should be strictly earmarked for players, but offered no exact number. His comments come after global players\u2019 union FIFPro <a href=\"https:\/\/thegist.createsend1.com\/t\/t-l-fhyjix-jitklkutdj-a\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suggested 30% of WWC winnings<\/a> go straight to the athletes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The sponsors:<\/strong> The FIFA prez also confirmed that Visit Saudi will not sponsor the WWC after having \u201ca discussion that didn\u2019t lead into a contract.\u201d Saudi Arabia\u2019s tourism arm <a href=\"https:\/\/thegist.createsend1.com\/t\/t-l-fhyjix-jitklkutdj-f\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was poised<\/a> to buy WWC\u2013specific inventory, but won\u2019t be an official partner after widespread (and well-earned) criticism of the country\u2019s women\u2019s rights record.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zooming out:<\/strong> Yesterday\u2019s victories must once again be attributed to the players.
