The Monarchs and the Pride both had two shots, but junior <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/mumonarchs.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/allye-carter\/14291\" rel=\"smarttag noopener\" rev=\"14291\" target=\"_blank\">Allye Carter<\/a><\/dfn> of Methodist was the only player to have a shot on goal.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li>After halftime, Greensboro ramped up its attack, sending in a few shots that were handled calmly by the Monarchs goalkeeper, senior <dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/mumonarchs.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/carolina-simpkins\/14302\" rel=\"smarttag noopener\" rev=\"14302\" target=\"_blank\">Carolina Simpkins<\/a><\/dfn>.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li>With time winding down, the breakthrough came in the 82<sup>nd<\/sup> minute in unconventional fashion. A back pass intended for the Pride&#8217;s goalkeeper slipped past her and rolled into the net for an own goal, handing the Monarchs a 1\u20130 advantage.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li>Greensboro pressed for an equalizer in the minutes, but Methodist&#8217;s defense held firm, denying a pair of chances\u2013including a potential one-on-one that was pulled back due to a foul\u2013before closing out the shutout victory.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>NUMBERS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>&#13;<\/p>\n<li>Five different Monarchs registered shots, with Carter leading the way with two.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li>Simpkins posted a clean sheet with a game-high three saves.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li>The Monarchs earned their second win of the season and their first USA South road victory.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>UP NEXT<\/strong><br \/>\nMethodist returns home after a two-week road stretch, hosting Brevard College in a USA South clash on Saturday, October 4.
