Rajasthan\u2019s Basant (high jump) and Narpat Singh (hammer throw) won gold medals in their respective men\u2019s under-20 events but narrowly missed under-20 Worlds qualification marks in the National junior athletics championships at the Kalinga Stadium here on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Basant recorded 2.11m, while the qualification standard was 2.12m. Narpat, who threw the hammer to 67.45m, fell short by 55cm. <\/p>\n
Kerala\u2019s Abiya Ann Gigi rewrote the girls\u2019 under-16 high jump national record with an effort of 1.56m. Second-placed Dhanya S. (1.53m) of Tamil Nadu also bettered the previous record. <\/p>\n
