Former Carolina Panthers No. 1 pick and NFL MVP Cam Newton<\/a> last suited up back in 2021. The quarterback did not latch on with a team last season and has obviously seen his best days.<\/p>\n This won\u2019t stop Newton from attempting to make a comeback in the NFL. The always boisterous free agent took to social media recently to announce that he will throw for teams during Auburn\u2019s Pro Day on Tuesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n This is not necessarily the equivalent of a workout in front of NFL teams. Rather, it\u2019s all about the 33-year-old quarterback proving he can still offer something to interested parties.<\/p>\n Newton\u2019s last on-field experience came with the aforementioned Panthers back in 2021. He boasted an 0-5 record in as many starts, throwing just four touchdowns against five interceptions.<\/p>\n Newton had spent his first nine NFL seasons in Carolina before the team released him<\/a> ahead of the 2020 campaign. He then spent the following season as the New England Patriots\u2019 starting quarterback in replacing Tom Brady.\u00a0<\/a>Despite some struggles through the air, he was still able to compile 20 total touchdowns against 10 interceptions in 15 starts.<\/p>\n Once considered one of the most-dynamic quarterbacks in modern NFL history, Newton has seen injuries catch up to him. He\u2019s thrown just 77 touchdowns against 59 interceptions since the start of the 2016 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n In his first five NFL seasons, Newton tallied 160 total touchdowns compared to 64 interceptions. That included winning the NFL MVP in 2015.<\/p>\n One of the reasons Cam Newton did not latch on with a team last season was his unwillingness to take on a backup quarterback job<\/a>. If he wants to return to the NFL, it\u2019s only going to be as a backup right now.<\/p>\n We\u2019ll see how Newton looks once he takes part in throwing session in front of NFL teams during Auburn\u2019s Pro Day on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
