The two events are taking place back-to-back, with Gout and his support team deeming it unwise for him to contest both so early in his burgeoning career.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cIt is [a big decision],\u201d Gout told the Seven Network. \u201c[The Commonwealth Games] is a great event and it\u2019s one of those big meetings everyone loves. But looking at it, it is definitely a better decision going for the world under-20s.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The world under-20s meeting \u2013 formerly known as the world junior championships \u2013 will take place from 5-9 August in Eugene, Oregon, at the same stadium that hosted the 2022 world championships.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Before going on to dominate world sprinting and rewrite the record books, Bolt kicked off his career with 200m gold at the 2002 world juniors. Glasgow is hosting the event after original hosts Victoria pulled out.<\/span> Photograph: Jane Barlow\/PA<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Australia\u2019s Commonwealth Games team chef de mission, Petria Thomas, said she understood the teenager\u2019s decision to pull out of the Games, which run from 23 July to 2 August.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cGout is a remarkable talent and although he won\u2019t be in Glasgow, we hope to see him don the green and gold at a Commonwealth Games in the future,\u201d Thomas said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cI think it\u2019s important that we all remember he is 18 and remains on the rise.
