It was really nice to get to yesterday&#8217;s stage with the GC boys, and then actually be able to have a climb where it meant something for the overall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">&#8220;Super happy, proud, and surprised myself a bit too. It was a perfect stage.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Explaining why the UAE Tour is suited perfectly to his profile, Plapp explained how he&#8217;d naturally be more adapted to the heat at this point in the year, after taking in an Aussie summer of racing, but also with the knowledge that a single climb finish is where he can really excel.<\/p>\n<div id=\"slice-container-newsletterForm-articleInbodyContent-HWsqA3ceDoNPdaMpLXhfwC\" class=\"slice-container newsletter-inbodyContent-slice newsletterForm-articleInbodyContent-HWsqA3ceDoNPdaMpLXhfwC slice-container-newsletterForm\">\n<div data-hydrate=\"true\" class=\"newsletter-form__wrapper newsletter-form__wrapper--inbodyContent\">\n<div class=\"newsletter-form__container\">\n<section class=\"newsletter-form__top-bar\"\/>\n<section class=\"newsletter-form__main-section\">\n<p class=\"newsletter-form__strapline\">The latest race content, interviews, features, reviews and expert buying guides, direct to your inbox!<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">&#8220;I&#8217;ve had two to three months in Australia in the summer heat, and the Europeans obviously don&#8217;t have as much heat preparation, so especially when it&#8217;s hot, I really feel like that brings me up, or I don&#8217;t suffer in the heat at all compared to them,&#8221; Plapp added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">&#8220;It might take a couple of per cent off, so it allows me to be right up there. I&#8217;ve done 20 race days, so fast, I&#8217;m almost halfway through the season and really almost peaking a lot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">&#8220;Compared to 2023, I think this race was a lot stronger field, a lot more depth, and the quality of power and the riding we&#8217;ve done the whole week&#8217;s been a lot higher, so I&#8217;m really pleased with how the week&#8217;s gone.&#8221;<\/p>\n<aside data-component-name=\"Recirculation:ArticleRiver\" data-recirculation-type=\"inline\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"Trending Bar\" data-nosnippet=\"\" class=\"clear-both pt-3 pb-4 mb-4 border-solid border-y border-neutral-300\">\n<span class=\"font-article-heading block pb-3 !text-base font-bold uppercase sm:text-sm text-[#333]\"><br \/>\nYou may like<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<\/aside>\n<p>At risk of being boxed into one category, Plapp does think GC riders can be in his wheelhouse, and after seeing his raw values, why shouldn&#8217;t he?
