Trinity Rodman<\/a> went down on Sunday night in the U.S. Women\u2019s National Team\u2019s opening SheBelieves Cup victory over Argentina after taking a hard foul to the back in second half stoppage time. Rodman, who had entered the match in the 62nd minute as a substitute, spent much of the 2025 season recovering from injuries\u2013including a persistent back injury that sidelined her from April through August.<\/p>\n

As the clock wound down on Sunday in Nashville, Argentina midfielder Milagros Martin drew a yellow card after colliding with Rodman. The star U.S. forward fell to the ground and could be seen tearfully clutching her lower back. She was treated on the field by team staff, and though she ultimately walked to the sidelines on her own volition, she did not return to the pitch for the remaining moments of the match.<\/p>\n

Rodman made just one appearance with the USWNT last year due to her injuries, which also included an MCL sprain suffered in October. The 23-year-old has 97 regular season appearances with her club team, the NWSL\u2019s Washington Spirit, and is in line to pass Sam Kerr<\/a> as the youngest to reach 100 if she can remain healthy.<\/p>\n

Rodman recently signed a record three-year contract extension<\/a> with the Spirit that made her the highest-paid female player<\/a> in the the NWSL and the world.<\/p>\n

Whether the collision aggravated Rodman\u2019s prior injuries or sparked something new is not yet known. Head coach Emma Hayes was unable to provide an update on Rodman\u2019s condition immediately after the match, saying she had not yet seen Rodman or spoken to her staff.<\/p>\n
