The U.S. Women\u2019s National Team won its eighth SheBelieves Cup after a 1-0 victory over Colombia on Saturday. Canada, which won 3-2 on penalties over Argentina earlier that day, took second place.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hampered by a chippy Colombia defense, the U.S. had missed numerous chances in the first 80 minutes of the game. But in the 82nd minute, Alyssa Thompson<\/a> made a pass to Jaedyn Shaw<\/a> on the left side of the box. Thompson rushed into the middle to receive Shaw\u2019s assist, secured enough space and notched a strike in the top corner of the net to put the U.S. on the board.<\/p>\n

The USWNT struggled to connect in the first half, while Colombia outshot the U.S. eight to three. While the U.S. ramped up the tempo in the second half, it still couldn\u2019t finish chances.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Thompson, who also had a significant role in the U.S.\u2019s victory over Canada on Wednesday, made all the difference. Her goal sealed not only the USWNT\u2019s eighth-ever SheBelieves Cup title but a full-tournament sweep, with the team having held Canada and Argentina to clean sheets in the tournament.<\/p>\n

In the penultimate match of the 2026 SheBelieves Cup, Canada defeated Argentina 3-2 on penalties after both teams went scoreless in regulation. The win secured two points for Canada, enough to maintain second place in tournament standings but snuffing out a chance at the title.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Neither team developed much offensive rhythm early in the match. The first half ended with a chance for Canada from Jordyn Huitema<\/a> that hit the right crossbar after being tipped away by Argentinian goalkeeper Solana Pereyra.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Canada came out swinging in the second half with four chances in the first five minutes. But despite playing with a higher tempo and dominating possession, the team couldn\u2019t capitalize. Argentina\u2019s strong defense took the game to penalties, where Canadian goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan<\/a> ultimately prevailed against Pereyra.\u00a0<\/p>\n
