Here in Leicestershire we had been playing walking cricket for several months before the date on which Mac McKechnie claims to have invented the game (Sepsis almost killed me but I survived to invent a new sport<\/a>, 20 March). Our group started playing in September 2018<\/a> under the banner of the Cities Changing Diabetes programme and has been meeting weekly ever since.<\/p>\n

We are now sponsored by Leicestershire County Cricket<\/a> Club and have played against teams from neighbouring counties. Most of us are over 60 and have benefited immensely on so many levels.<\/p>\n

Good luck to Mr McKechnie and his group, but sorry \u2013 he did not invent walking cricket.
