Jasprit Bumrah<\/strong><\/a>, star pacer of the Mumbai Indians, has checked into the BCCI Centre of Excellence less than a week before the start of the Indian Premier League 2026 season. It remains unclear whether his visit is due to an injury concern or routine fitness assessment. Mumbai Indians are set to begin their campaign against the Kolkata Knight Riders on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium.<\/p>\n

According to The Times of India, the right-arm pacer is currently at the facility in Karnataka and has not yet joined the MI squad. Last week, MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene confirmed that four MI players who were part of India\u2019s T20 World Cup-winning squad were granted an extended break.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery year, our aim is to get there (win the trophy). But I know it\u2019s a long season. So pre-season will start the way we usually start, working hard, getting new boys into the setup. And with our (T20) World Cup guys, we\u2019ve given them a bit of an extended break so that they will join us next weekend,\u201d said Jayawardene as quoted by TimesofIndia.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe overseas guys also flew in home and then they will join us. But they\u2019ll have a good one week training with us before the first game,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Bumrah heads into the tournament on the back of a stellar campaign at the T20 World Cup. The 32-year-old was the joint-highest wicket-taker with 14 scalps, including a match-defining four-wicket haul in the final, which helped India secure their second consecutive T20 World Cup title and third overall.<\/p>\n

Bumrah also enjoyed an impressive IPL 2025 season, claiming 18 wickets in 12 matches. In an era dominated by high-scoring games, often exceeding 250 runs, it was his remarkable economy rate of just 6.67 that truly stood out.<\/p>\n

With 183 wickets in the IPL, Bumrah remains the leading wicket-taker for the Mumbai Indians and will be eager to add to his tally in the upcoming season. A key figure in four of MI\u2019s five title-winning campaigns, he continues to be a vital and experienced pillar of the franchise.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
