Here are 11 thoughts from the weekend. We\u2019ll do this every Monday following NWSL match weeks. Some points will be factual, some will be opinion based. And some will just be random statements or observations.<\/em><\/p>\n

I \u2013 Current bear little resemblance to Shield team<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Kansas City Current are not a very good side right now. Whether it be injuries or a coaching change or an untimely stretch of three road games in eight days, the reality is that the team that produced maybe the best regular season in NWSL history feels gone.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one ever thought this would be an easy road stretch,\u201d head coach Chris Armas said after a 2-0 loss to the Thorns in Portland extended their losing streak to three. \u201cShort rest, players coming back from injury. This is just part of it. It\u2019s all of it combined.\u201d<\/p>\n

Perhaps comparisons to last season are unfair. But some of what has ailed the Current goes beyond injury and a tough break from the schedule maker. They have been way too easy to break down through midfield and the back line has been lackadaisical in marking.<\/p>\n
