Wembanyama&#8217;s injury had NBA fans in dismay on social media, especially with the Spurs big man&#8217;s eligibility to win awards in jeopardy.<\/p>\n<p>Early in the second quarter, Wembanyama collided with Paul George in what was a physical game since tip-off. It was a little bit confusing since he was grabbing his left shoulder initially. He left with 17 points, five rebounds and three blocks. Luke Kornet started in his place, as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/basketball\/san-antonio-spurs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">San Antonio Spurs<\/a> still proved why they are more than just Wemby&#8217;s team. <\/p>\n<p>They dispatched the Philadelphia 76ers, 115-102, to win their 60th game of the season. Stephon Castle led the way with 19 points, nine rebounds and 13 assists. De&#8217;Aaron Fox added 13 points. <\/p>\n<p>The bench trio of Kornet, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/basketball\/dylan-harper\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">Dylan Harper<\/a> and Keldon Johnson were also a spark, combining for 40 points. As for the Sixers, Joel Embiid&#8217;s 34-point performance wasn&#8217;t enough. <\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h2>Victor Wembanyama needs to play another game to win NBA awards<\/h2>\n<p>Due to the 65-game rule, Victor Wembanyama will have to play one more game this season to be eligible for awards. Wembanyama is the favorite to win the NBA Defensive Player of the Year, possibly even set to become the first unanimous winner. <\/p>\n<p>Wembanyama is also making things interesting in the MVP race, especially after helping the Spurs win 60 games. His offense isn&#8217;t as impressive as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander&#8217;s numbers, but his defense is out of this world.
