Matildas captain Sam Kerr continued her stellar form, scoring the opening goal in Chelsea\u2019s 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final victory against Tottenham.<\/p>\n

Since returning from national team duty in the Asian Cup, Kerr has found the back of the net twice in as many outings.<\/p>\n

Kerr\u2019s 40th minute header was a reminder of her class after reports circulated last week that the out-of-contract Australian is set to leave Chelsea at season\u2019s end.<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old has been linked with a move to new NWSL team Denver Summit, but took to social media to sow doubt in the minds of fans<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Eveliina Summanen equalised for Spurs early in the second half, but 19-year-old Veerle Buurman\u2019s 86th minute strike kept Chelsea\u2019s Cup hopes alive.<\/p>\n

Victory ensured that Kerr, Matildas teammate Ellie Carpenter and rest of the Chelsea squad have the chance to extract something from what has been a disappointing season so far.<\/p>\n

They fell out of the Champions League to London rivals Arsenal<\/a> last week and sit nine points off leaders Manchester City in the league.<\/p>\n

But the Blues remain a chance to win a seventh FA Cup crown, if they can overcome Matildas superstar Mary Fowler\u2019s City in the semi-final.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will fight until the end to have as many titles as we can,\u201d Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor told the BBC.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe FA Cup is part of the best memory I had in my whole career as a player and manager, being able to go to Wembley and play a final there.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s such a special moment. We\u2019ll see the draw and who we have to play but will do everything we can to reach the final again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fowler was used as a second half substitute in City\u2019s 1-0 win away to second-tier league leaders Birmingham.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, fellow Matilda Clare Hunt was absent for Tottenham through injury and Charli Grant missed too with the injury that kept her out of the Asian Cup.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
