She has now addressed her absence.<\/p>\n<p>Athena has been signed to AEW for the past couple of years. However, she has spent most of her time in Ring of Honor. In fact, the former WWE star has been the ROH Women&#8217;s World Champion for the past 1222 days. During her dominant reign, she has defended the title against some of the best female wrestlers in ROH. Athena has also made appearances on Dynamite and Collision over the years. Her last match in Tony Khan\u2019s promotion took place at Worlds End 2025 when she and Mercedes Mone lost to Babes of Wrath in an AEW Women\u2019s Tag Team Championship match. Since then, she has not competed in the Jacksonville-based promotion.<\/p>\n<p><template id=\"also-read-articles-template\"><\/p>\n<p><\/template><\/p>\n<p>A user on X recently pointed out that Athena has not competed in a singles match on Dynamite for the past year. Her previous singles match on Dynamite took place on the 16th April 2025 episode, when she lost to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/player\/sasha-banks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">Mercedes Mone<\/a> in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament semi-finals. The former WWE star responded to the user and asked if they were craving more of her.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Are we craving more #AthenaEliteWrestling ??&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Check out her tweet here:<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h2>Former WWE star Athena wants to break Bruno Sammartino\u2019s record<\/h2>\n<p>Athena won the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/go\/ring-of-honor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">ROH<\/a> Women\u2019s World Championship when she defeated Mercedes Martinez at Final Battle 2022. Since then, she has defeated a long list of challengers during her impressive title reign. Currently, her title reign is at 1222 days and counting. This makes her one of the most dominant women&#8217;s champions in recent memory. However, she has much bigger plans and ambitions.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/j95HOSy0e7Y\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">Black Rasslin\u2019 podcast<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/aew\/news-current-aew-star-eyeing-bruno-sammartino-s-historic-record\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">Athena said that she wants to break Bruno Sammartino\u2019s record<\/a> of 2803 days of being a champion.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cMy goal is to be Bruno Sammartino. That is the ultimate goal. And we are starting year 4. We&#8217;ve finished year 3. We&#8217;re on year 4. I think I want to do more. I think that&#8217;s always going to be my thing.
