Chepkwony and Hellen Chepkorir each awarded KES 2 million.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chepkwony and Chepkorir delivered outstanding performances in the men\u2019s and women\u2019s full marathon, clocking 2:11:01 and 2:27:17 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s 42km race, Alex Chepkwik Saekwo finished second (KES 1,000,000), followed by Omullo Ezekiel Kemboi in third place (KES 500,000), Donald Kimaru Biwott in fourth (KES 300,000), and Wilfred Kiplangat in fifth (KES 200,000).<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s 42km race, Naomy Chepkorir secured second place (KES 1,000,000), Beatrice Miningwo finished fourth (KES 300,000), and Jane Moraa Onyangi placed fifth (KES 200,000), alongside other strong performers who were also recognised.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<p>In the half marathon (21km), Joshua Kithuku and Fridah Rerimoi claimed top honours in the men\u2019s and women\u2019s categories, each taking home KES 300,000. In the wheelchair (21km) categories, athletes were awarded a combined total of KES 1.3 million, underlining the Marathon\u2019s continued commitment to inclusivity and support for para-athletes.<\/p>\n<p>David Mwindi, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee said: \u201cThe Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon which is Kenya\u2019s only World Athletics Road Race Label event, is more than a race; it is a platform that transforms lives. Today\u2019s awards recognise athletic excellence while reinforcing our commitment to equipping athletes with financial knowledge for long-term success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Beyond recognising athletic achievement, the event also featured a financial literacy and legal advisory session led by Standard Chartered experts. The session equipped athletes with practical knowledge on managing their earnings and navigating professional contracts.<\/p>\n<p>All proceeds from the Marathon support the Standard Chartered \u00a0Foundation which focuses on helping young people learn, earn and grow through employability and entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n<p>Joyce Kibe, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand &amp; Marketing, Kenya &amp; Africa at Standard Chartered: \u201cFor over two decades, this marathon has been more than a race, raising approximately KSh 520 million channelled into initiatives empowering women and persons with disabilities with skills to improve their livelihoods. Last year alone, we raised KSh 76 million from\u00a0 the marathon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The President of Athletics Kenya, Gen. Jackson Tuwei, emphasised the importance of holistic athlete support: \u201cThe continued growth of the Marathon reflects strong collaboration between partners and Athletics Kenya. By rewarding performance, supporting athlete development and empowering athletes with financial knowledge knowledge helps them safeguard their careers, earnings and long-term wellbeing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 2025 edition attracted a record 30,602 participants from 92 nationalities, including over 200 elite athletes. Participation among persons with disabilities rose to 184, up from 146 in 2024. The 10km race recorded the highest turnout, with 12,855 runners.
