As always, brands have their latest and greatest on display. New tech, faster motors, bigger batteries, more this and more that. This is his 3rd Sea Otter\" class=\"wp-image-414913\" style=\"object-fit:full\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Upon arriving at Sea Otter, the first person I bumped into was <a href=\"https:\/\/truemarmalade.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Erik<\/a>. And, Erik had this touring\/bikepacking\/cargo bike that was equally as cool as it was a bit terrifying.<\/p>\n<p>And Erik rides more than you. Well, he certainly rides more than me. Now, some were spotted sporting 32\u201d wheels between their legs, and I left those for a different post.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>First, I visited our friends at Cane Creek to see their Invert Enduro fork in the flesh. They had one set on a test stand so you could feel the squish (it was smooth!). It was cool to see the finished product, but also a cool insight into how they developed the Invert Enduro, albeit a small peek.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-6 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bikerumor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/stablead-prototypes-scaled.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1536\" height=\"1152\" data-id=\"414906\" src=\"https:\/\/bikerumor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/stablead-prototypes-1536x1152.jpeg\" alt=\"stablead prototypes inverted fork\" class=\"wp-image-414906\" style=\"object-fit:full\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Continuing in the Sea Otter upside-down fork category is <a href=\"https:\/\/stablead.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stablead<\/a> with its .1 Loamer and .2 Loamer forks. The single-crown .1 Loamer features 150-170mm of travel, while the dual-crown .2 Loamer has, well, more (Stablead didn\u2019t specify). Everything is still in the early stages, but mountain bike legend Brian Lopes is involved and looking forward to getting some test time on the Stablead\u2019s new offerings.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-marin-stayer-sea-otter-mashup\">A Marin\/Stayer Sea Otter Mashup<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-8 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bikerumor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Marin-and-Stayer-cargo-bike-scaled.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1536\" height=\"1152\" data-id=\"414900\" src=\"https:\/\/bikerumor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Marin-and-Stayer-cargo-bike-1536x1152.jpeg\" alt=\"Marin and Stayer cargo bike at Sea Otter\" class=\"wp-image-414900\" style=\"object-fit:full\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Okay, this was pretty cool. At the Marin booth is a vintage Marin Palisades Trail bike, circa 1986 or 1987. However, the front half was missing.<\/p>\n<p>In its place was a cargo conversion, courtesy of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/stayercycles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stayer<\/a>. Stayer is a UK-based brand specializing in cargo bike conversions. This is what Marin did. I can confirm that you cannot do so without a smile on your face.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-party-helmet\">Party Helmet<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-11 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bikerumor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Helmet-Flair-scaled.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1536\" height=\"1152\" data-id=\"414899\" src=\"https:\/\/bikerumor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Helmet-Flair-1536x1152.jpeg\" alt=\"Helmet Flair at Sea Otter\" class=\"wp-image-414899\" style=\"object-fit:full\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Why not accessorize your helmet? This is the question the fine folks at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/helmetflair\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Helmet Flair<\/a> asked. The husband and wife team began making different objects\u2013horns, bananas, unicorn horns, etc\u2013to fix to your helmet. Some are squishy foam and adhere with sticky tape; others connect with a magnet that stays fixed to the helmet.<\/p>\n<p>Believe it or not, Helmet Flair actually had adults in mind when they began. However, they quickly realized kids were a huge market (obviously). There are certainly quite a few \u201cfun\u201d helmets out there for kids, but they often are pretty poor quality and relatively unsafe. Helmet Flair lets a parent make their kid\u2019s safe helmet fun, too.<\/p>\n<p>As a parent, I like the idea. The Sock Guy was there with, well, socks. And if you are unfamiliar, the Sock Guy\u2019s socks are not only quality-performing socks but also fun. I thought, \u201cOh, cool, that would help me stay organized.\u201d But I found that they do so much more than just colors. Wrenches that you can only turn so far because a bolt is in a tight space. Using a torque wrench as a regular ratchet. Like the original Fulcrum, it has more chains than you&#8217;d expect. It&#8217;s like a little gearbox inside the frame. Sophie, Ian, and Zach worked together to build a very interesting trail\/enduro bike with an adjustable rocker link. No flip chips, no shock swaps, just an easy switch. As you can imagine, the project is still going through its testing phases. Oscar was cruising around on his Velo Orange, which has lived quite the life.
