The sanctioning body had to resort to the rulebook to set the starting grid for Saturday\u2019s Kansas Lottery 300.<\/p>\n<p>Windy conditions prevailed when teams hit the ground running on Friday. A Tornado watch forced officials to close access to the grandstands, while pre-qualifying inspections continued without issue.<\/p>\n<p><template id=\"template__newsletter-inline-banner-form-combo-widget\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"wrapper\">\n<p><img id=\"subscribe-img\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\nThanks for the submission!\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/template><\/p>\n<p>However, severe lightning and rain rendered the track unusable and cancelled the day&#8217;s running. Carson Kvapil was allotted the pole start, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/player\/william-byron\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">William Byron<\/a>, Justin Allgaier, and Sheldon Creed rounding out the front rows.<\/p>\n<p>NASCAR reporter Toby Christie shared the news with an X post, writing,<\/p>\n<p><template id=\"also-read-articles-template\"><\/p>\n<p><\/template><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The severe weather in the Kansas Speedway area has led to the cancellation of Friday&#8217;s NASCAR O&#8217;Reilly Auto Parts Series practice and qualifying. As a result, the starting lineup was set by the rule book. Carson Kvapil will start from P1, with William Byron alongside on Saturday.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Reigning O&#8217;Reilly champion Jesse Love is set for a ninth-place start, and recent race winner Taylor Gray accompanies him on the fifth row. The ARCA Menards qualifying scheduled for 6 PM ET was also scrapped, and Jack Wood was named the polesitter.<\/p>\n<p>Fans can watch Saturday&#8217;s O&#8217;Reilly race on The CW, or listen to radio updates on SiriusXM NASCAR radio. The 300-miler is scheduled for 7 PM ET. Fortunately, Weather forecasts predict a sunny day for the 200-lap event.<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h2>NASCAR makes major change to Talladega stage lengths<\/h2>\n<p>Fuel saving has been a major concern at super speedway tracks. Drivers often run at half throttle to avoid a prolonged refueling pitstop. The practice has led to stagnated pack racing with a lack of overtakes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/nascar\/news-nascar-makes-major-stage-length-changes-talladega-cup-series-race\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">NASCAR has now decided to tackle the issue head-on<\/a>. The sancitoning body has altered the stage lengths for this year&#8217;s Jack Link&#8217;s 500 at Talladega, with the first stage lasting for 98 laps, while Stages 2 and 3 have been reduced to 45 laps each.<\/p>\n<p>The shorter stage lengths will allow a refuelling window during the stage breaks. John Probst, NASCAR\u2019s executive vice president and chief racing development officer, addressed the matter and said,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cIf you look at generally how a lot of our speedways were laid out, it was a short stage, a short stage and then a long stage to the end.
