Indiana<\/a> defensive coordinator Bryant Haines felt a bit slighted by some comments Alabama<\/a> quarterback Ty Simpson<\/a> made about their matchup in the College Football Playoff.<\/p>\n Simpson said in a recent appearance on the \u201cDown 2 Business\u201d podcast that nothing about Indiana\u2019s defense had surprised him during the Hoosiers\u2019 38-3 win in January\u2019s CFP quarterfinal. Simpson suggested Indiana\u2019s defense had not done anything to surprise his team, but simply executed its plan better.<\/p>\n \u201cFrom my point of view, they don\u2019t do much. They do the same thing every down,\u201d Simpson said. \u201cWhen I got the ball, I knew exactly what was going to happen. They just didn\u2019t mess up. They were in the exact same spot they were supposed to be. They were so well-coached.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Simpson\u2019s comments may have been meant as a compliment, but Haines did not take them as such. On X, he dismissed Simpson\u2019s remarks as \u201cadorable.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe also, saw everything they were doing, on every single snap\u2026 It\u2019s just that we exploited those cues.
