United are quietly building one of the most ambitious summer transfer plans in the Premier League<\/a>, and the early signals suggest Michael Carrick<\/a>‘s interim stint could hand him a remarkable squad to manage permanently \u2014 if the club keep faith with him.<\/p>\n

Sitting third in the table with Champions League football far more likely than not, United have turned their season around dramatically since Ruben Amorim’s departure.<\/p>\n

United have already made an initial approach for Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz<\/a>, understood to be the club’s primary attacking target for the summer.<\/p>\n

Separately, the Red Devils are keen to close a deal for Wolves teenager Mateus Mane<\/a>, with the 18-year-old flagged as a \u00a350 million option who could follow a similar path to the one Matheus Cunha took from Molineux to Old Trafford last year.<\/p>\n

There is also interest in Newcastle star Anthony Gordon<\/a>, but amid all of that activity, one eye-catching potential piece of business involves an ex-City sensation.<\/p>\n

According to CaughtOffside journalist Mark Brus, United have a genuine and ‘concrete’ interest in signing Cole Palmer<\/a> from Chelsea.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old was tipped to be an eventual superstar for City, but found consistent opportunities limited under Pep Guardiola before leaving for Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n

Since then, Palmer has excelled in west London, standing out as their superstar player when at his very best.<\/p>\n

The scale of the obstacles involved for United, though, is considerable.<\/p>\n

Chelsea regard Palmer as the central figure of their entire project and have made their position unambiguous, he is not for sale.<\/p>\n

The England international signed a contract extension until 2033 only last August, gifting the club maximum leverage in any future negotiations.<\/p>\n

CaughtOffside<\/a> say that sources close to the player are giving nothing away about his intentions either, and there is no suggestion he is actively pushing to leave.<\/p>\n

Chelsea’s internal valuation, should the situation ever change, is understood to be in the region of \u00a3150 million \u2014 a figure that would represent the largest transfer fee in Premier League history and one that even the wealthiest clubs would struggle to justify under PSR constraints.<\/p>\n

Brus acknowledges that even within United, the view is not unanimous that this is the right moment to move for him.<\/p>\n

Sources suggest the preference would be to avoid a prolonged public saga, and that without clear indication from Palmer himself that he wants out, the deal has no obvious pathway this summer.<\/p>\n

United also remain keen to keep Bruno Fernandes for at least one more season, which raises questions about where Palmer would fit into the immediate structure.<\/p>\n

In the long run, Palmer is seen as the natural heir to Fernandes at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

For now, it could be more one for the future.<\/p>\n
