Are WWE fans and wrestling fans in general getting too much information from the business side of things? The American Nightmare seems to think so, believing that some may be overwhelmed by it all, to the point that they stop getting invested in the product.<\/p>\n
WWE Champion Cody Rhodes spoke on the matter on the latest episode of his podcast, “What Do You Wanna Talk About? With Cody Rhodes<\/a><\/em>,” claiming that the profession is in danger of running fans off. Per Rhodes, fans only really care about watching the wrestlers they like, wherever they happen to be, and that the tickets sold and other business information mean little to them.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \nThanks for the submission!\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/template><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/template><\/p>\n “I\u2019m in my head on some of the things as of late about every single piece of WWE right now, and every wrestling company, somebody needs to share and put it out there. And I think what\u2019s going to happen is an overload of information to where fans just stop caring. Like, \u2018I watch the show. I like the show. I like this guy. I don\u2019t like that guy. I like her. I don\u2019t need to know how many people were in the seats.\u2019 It\u2019s wild. I don\u2019t know who\u2019s keeping all of these records. But I\u2019m getting tired of, what do we need this for? Who\u2019s this for,” said Cody Rhodes on the What Do You Wanna Talk About podcast [H\/T Wrestlingnews.co<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Much like most promotions, WWE likes to promote its ticket sales, quarterly earnings, and more. For years now, WWE has taken time out for nearly each PLE to thank the crowd and announce the ticket sales of the night or weekend. <\/p>\n Rhodes’ comments come off weeks of negative press for the promotion, when it was revealed they’d cut dozens of WWE Superstars<\/a> and approached many about restructuring<\/a> to take up to 50% pay cuts. Around the same time, it was revealed that TKO execs<\/a> had received massive pay raises. <\/p>\n Every April, usually right after WrestleMania, the company cuts a multitude of names all at once. It’s happened so often that some fans began dubbing it, “spring cleaning,” until April 15, 2020, known as “Black Wednesday,” when dozens of stars were cut at the height of the COVID pandemic. <\/p>\n Since then, the promotion has faced yearly backlash for these decisions, especially since they continue to tout record profits year in and year out. This year, though, WWE seems to have been ordered to do so. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
