Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Casemiro<\/a>‘s future amid calls to stay at Manchester United<\/a> following his fabulous form under Michael Carrick.<\/p>\n

Carrick’s tenure has led to turnarounds in form for several key stars at Old Trafford, none more so than midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, who signed a new contract until 2031 before scoring a dramatic winner against Liverpool.<\/p>\n

The 21 year-old England international has forced his way back into Thomas Tuchel’s plans ahead of this summer’s World Cup, having started 13 of United’s last 14 Premier League games.<\/p>\n

Winger Amad Diallo stressed how happy the players are under the current boss after their win over Liverpool, saying: “Honestly, it’s not the player who decides who is going to stay here next season, but what I can say [is] everyone is happy to have him as manager. Everyone is with him.<\/p>\n

“He’s that manager who has a good relationship with every player, so we are really happy to have him as manager and, yeah, we will be happy if we have him next season as manager.”<\/p>\n

Carrick’s first task if appointed to the permanent role may be finding a replacement for Casemiro, who is set to walk away from Old Trafford at the end of his contract this summer.<\/p>\n

The Brazil midfielder announced his decision in January, leaving behind a deal which places him at the top of United’s wage list<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n Fabrizio Romano delivers Casemiro U-turn update

Speaking on his personal YouTube<\/a> channel, Romano delivered disappointing news for those United fans who have chanted ‘one more year’ in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

Indeed, the reporter confirms there is no chance of a U-turn and Casemiro has decided to leave in search of a new chapter.<\/p>\n

“I know it’s a sad story but it’s the reality, Casemiro will not stay at Manchester United.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

“I know the song ‘one more year Casemiro’ because Manchester United fans are trying to push Casemiro to play one more season, to play Champions League football, to be part of the project next season.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

“But the understanding, I told you, to be honest, is that Casemiro wants to try something different.”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section>\n

United have also said goodbye to club director Sir Dave Brailsford.<\/p>\n

The 62-year-old played a key role before and after Sir Jim Ratcliffe completed his minority takeover of the club in February 2024, which saw him step down as team principal of the Ineos Grenadiers cycling team.<\/p>\n

But it emerged last June that Brailsford\u2019s role at the club would be scaled back as part of a reshuffle that saw him return to his role as director of sport for the wider Ineos group.<\/p>\n

The break from United was formalised on April 30, a document on Companies House published on Thursday confirmed, with Brailsford\u2019s role as director of the club terminated.<\/p>\n

He was appointed as a director on February 19, 2024 and United finished 15th, losing the Europa League final, in his only full season with the club.<\/p>\n

United currently sit third in the Premier League standings having secured Champions League qualification with three matches to spare.<\/p>\n
