\u201cClarity is important,\u201d said Carrick ahead of Saturday\u2019s trip to Sunderland.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think moving forward, it\u2019s come at the time, right at the end of the season, where I think we\u2019ve finished strong, put ourselves in a good position.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd obviously the situation of my role and what it looks like moving forward, I think it\u2019s just the natural time. While Carrick has been coy over his future, several United players have backed him to continue as manager with Kobbie Mainoo, fresh from scoring the winner against Liverpool, saying the team are willing to die for him.<\/p>\n
Carrick, asked if he would do anything differently if he became the full-time, as opposed to caretaker boss, said: \u201cIt\u2019s a good question. I\u2019ve said from the start I\u2019ve never approached a day here in terms of any short-term decisions.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhether that\u2019s different to the outlook of others, I don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut from myself and the staff we\u2019ve made decisions for the longer-term for the group and individually, players, how we treat them and try to help develop them.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cMaybe we\u2019ll get to see, I don\u2019t know. But certainly, from my point of view, I\u2019ve gone about it in a way that I feel is the right way to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
