Former New Zealand pacer and present Rajasthan Royals bowling coach Shane Bond criticised the poor form of RR’s bowlers after the team’s loss to GT in Jaipur on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The former New Zealand pacer said that the bowlers needed to develop their skills in the current environment where runs are flowing. Shane Bond also talked about RR’s problems in qualifying for the playoffs following the loss to the Gujarat Titans.<\/p>\n

Rajasthan Royals lose three in a row at home<\/h2>\n

RR’s loss to GT meant that they have now failed to win any of their three matches in IPL 2026 at their home ground in the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur. In fact, last season they had managed just 1 win in 5 matches there.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, Royals skipper Yashasvi Jaiswal chose to bowl first, but it backfired. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan put up 118 for the first wicket, with Sudharsan being dismissed for 55. Gill perfectly played the ball to finish on 84 runs from 44 deliveries, before Washington Sundar got in on the perfect finish to take GT to 229. RR’s chase completely unravelled.<\/p>\n

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was his aggressive self, but none of the other batters could build off the start. Player of the Match Rashid Khan cut Dhruv Jurel’s cameo short and also got Donovan Ferreira in that over. Ravindra Jadeja top-scored with a mindful 38, but Rashid’s four wickets were too much to recover from. RR lost by 77 runs.<\/p>\n

It was a disappointing perfromance from us- Shane Bond<\/h2>\n

After the match, Bond spoke in the press conference and talked about RR’s dismaying performance in the match. He said, “It was a disappointing performance from us. This was a really big game for us, with both games on the same points.:<\/span><\/p>\n

“Have not seen the table in terms of net run-rate, but we will have to win two of our last three or maybe all three to make it through the playoffs. The five games we had every three days, I think we were pretty banged up after that. We were not quite as sharp,” he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bowlers need to develop their skills- Shane Bond on RR bowlers<\/h2>\n

Rajasthan Royals’ bowling coach Shane Bond went on to talk about how the bowlers also need to develop themselves. While the batters were constantly coming up with new ways of doing things, the bowlers weren’t necessarily doing that. <\/span><\/p>\n

“The batters are playing the upper cuts, reverses and scoops. They have developed their shots. Bowlers have to develop their skills as well. For them, it is an opportunity to be like: ‘I can do that, I can elevate myself into a lot of money and be a superstar’.”
<\/span><\/p>\n

“But we have not seen that consistently across the board. It is not easy for bowlers. But either you fear what is going on, or just see it as an opportunity to do better and put your name in the lights, especially if you are an Indian,” Shane Bond added.<\/span><\/p>\n
