Rangers<\/a> are now ready to let Andreas Skov Olsen leave Ibrox this summer, rather than triggering the \u00a38m buy option included in his loan deal.<\/p>\n

It’s been a miserable couple of weeks for Rangers. They’ve lost to both of their title rivals in the last two games and have seen their title hopes crumble before them.<\/p>\n

It’s brought forward familiar questions about the future and sparked a ruthlessness over the future of certain stars, including Skov Olsen. The winger was a statement signing when he arrived on loan from Wolfsburg in January, but has since failed to claim a consistent place in Danny Roh<\/a>l’s side, starting seven of 13 Scottish Premiership<\/a> games.<\/p>\n

Now, according to Football Insider, Rangers are ready to let Skov Olsen leave this summer<\/a>, opting out of triggering his \u00a38m buy option, which would be one of the most expensive deals in the club’s history.<\/p>\n

The Wolfsburg loanee simply hasn’t done enough to justify such a fee since arriving. It speaks volumes about where he stands with Rohl that he was forced to sit on the bench even as Rangers fell to defeat against Celtic last weekend.<\/p>\n

After featuring in 11 games for the Gers, Skov Olsen has scored just once and the latest snub by Rohl seems likely to signal the end of his time in Scotland.<\/p>\n

What that does do for the 49ers is free up some much-needed budget to invest elsewhere in a squad which desperately needs improvements this summer.<\/p>\n

It could have been a defining two weeks for all the right reasons at Rangers. Instead, it will be remembered for when their title hopes fell apart entirely. As far as Rohl is concerned, however, this should only be the start of his tenure and he decided to call for instant “resilience” after the Old Firm.<\/p>\n

“We have to develop our resilience in some moments. In key areas of decision-making, if you make mistakes at this level, it\u2019s really tough to take the right results. I\u2019ll take the all the disappointment and anger from the fans in the right way. I\u2019m at the front of my group, so I will take my responsibility.”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section>\n

The Rangers boss has plenty of work to do this summer if he is to turn the Gers into title winners ahead of his first full season in charge. For now, though, he has no choice but to watch on as a rival club snatches silverware.<\/p>\n
