For almost two decades, the Diamond League has been the backbone of the global athletics calendar.\u00a0It is where the world\u2019s best cut their teeth ahead of the major championships and where the rising stars of the sport make their first steps on the global stage.\u00a0<\/p>\n
2025 was another historic season, with three official world records and two world bests as the likes of Karsten Warholm, Faith Kipyegon, Beatrice Chebet and Mondo Duplantis continued to rewrite the athletics history books.\u00a0It also saw the emergence of new heroes, with first-time world champions such as Jamaica\u2019s Oblique Seville and the USA\u2019s Melissa Jefferson-Wooden claiming multiple Diamond League wins on their road to 100m glory at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.\u00a0<\/p>\n
2026 promises more of the same, as the sport\u2019s biggest stars prepare to lock horns once again on the elite global stage.\u00a0Athletes will compete for points across 14 series meetings from May to August, as they bid to qualify for the Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels on September 4-5 and a shot at the iconic Diamond Trophy.\u00a0<\/p>\n
With no Olympic Games or World Championships in 2026, the Diamond League title will be one of the biggest prizes on offer in elite athletics this season.\u00a0As the beating heart of the track and field season, the series will also provide the perfect run-up to the first ever World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest in September.<\/p>\n

Over the past 15 years, the Diamond League has invested more than USD 300 million in its athletes, with USD 18 million a year spent on prize money and promotional fees, and a further USD 6 million on athlete services such as transport, accommodation and medical care.In 2025, the total prize money pool increased to USD 9.24 million \u2013 the highest level in the series history.\u00a0<\/p>\n
That pool will remain the same this season, as the series consolidates its financial sustainability with\u00a0new commercial partnerships in 2026<\/a>.In 2026,\u00a0an adjusted prize money structure will allow even more athletes to win higher top prizes<\/a>, while also ensuring full gender equality and a fair distribution among all track and field disciplines. It also reached an online fanbase of five million social media followers worldwide, notching up more than one billion impressions and more than 900 million video views across all platforms.\u00a0This season, that audience will only continue to grow as sports fans across the world once again tune in to the greatest track and field series on Earth.\u00a0<\/p>\n This is the series which delivers only the very best: in all four corners of the world, throughout the outdoor season and for all the biggest superstars of global athletics.\u00a0It\u2019s the Diamond League.
