Now that the Gunners are scrapping their way to the peak of English football, they’re clearly aiming to make it their new home – starting with the addition of an attacking star.<\/p>\n

The addition of silverware won’t change Arsenal’s biggest weakness. They’re set to enter the yearly recruitment meeting with the same needs as the last two years.<\/p>\n

They need attackers capable of making a difference in open play to finally end their problems in that department.<\/p>\n

Rumours have already arrived regarding a potential move for Julian Alvarez<\/a>, which could cost upwards of \u00a3100m. He would certainly steal the headlines this summer. Before then, though, it could be an option that’s far closer to home that arrives.<\/p>\n

According to TEAMTalk, Arsenal are eyeing a move to sign Anthony Gordon<\/a> from Newcastle United and could see a \u00a375m bid accepted for the England international, such is the Magpies’ asking price.<\/p>\n

Bayern Munich will have something to say about that, given they’ve already established consistent contact over a summer move, but it wouldn’t be the first time that Premier League opposition outspent the Bavarian giants.<\/p>\n

The Bundesliga champions are only willing to take their offer to the \u00a360m mark this summer, as per reporters, and that leaves the door ajar for Berta to swoop in.<\/p>\n

Taking aim at Trossard after his heroics at West Ham is certainly a brave game to play, but that goal has not made the winger untouchable.<\/p>\n

At 31 years old, the former Brighton man has reached the peak of his powers and will be facing a decline sooner rather than later. It creates questions that Arsenal must answer about whether that West Ham goal will be one of his last.<\/p>\n

The harsh reality of Premier League football is that there is always an upgrade somewhere and for the Gunners, that upgrade is Gordon.<\/p>\n

Dubbed England’s “best winger” by former Premier League star Didi Hamann<\/a>, the Newcastle star is the runner that Arsenal have desperately needed for a while.<\/p>\n

Unlike Trossard, who prefers ball into feet or the chance to take a snapshot, Gordon’s best trait is his ability to run in behind and press with intensity off the ball. Instantly, that would add a new dynamic to Arsenal’s frontline.<\/p>\n

Gordon doesn’t provide the same goalscoring threat as Trossard, with the latter involved in more league goals this season, but he did score ten times in 12 Champions League outings, far superior to the Belgian’s solitary goal en route to the final.<\/p>\n

It is also his efforts out of possession that could unlock the best version of Viktor Gyokeres, with Trossard yet to really strike up a partnership with the ex-Sporting CP star.<\/p>\n

Next to his current options, the Swede finds himself holding up possession for players who want the ball to feet. It completely goes against the very reason that he’s attempting to hold the ball.<\/p>\n

He needs runners in behind. Gordon would do exactly that and make Gyokeres’ job a whole lot easier in the process.<\/p>\n

It’s a tale as old as time that the more runners an attacking team has, the more dangerous they are going forward. Sometimes, the solution really can be that simple. For Mikel Arteta, adding Gordon would mean more overloads going forward.<\/p>\n

The Arsenal boss would also be welcoming someone who’s safer than Trossard in possession, too. The Newcastle star has enjoyed far better take-on success this season and lost the ball fewer times. For a player who doesn’t always take the ball to feet, that’s an impressive record.<\/p>\n
