An NBA veteran, EuroLeague champion, Olympic bronze medallist and long-time Australian Boomers star, Ingles arrives at United after completing his 12th NBA campaign, most recently with the Minnesota Timberwolves.<\/p>\n<p>His NBA story remains one of the great Australian basketball success stories. Alex Goodlett\/Getty Images\/AFP == FOR NEWSPAPERS, INTERNET, TELCOS &amp;amp; TELEVISION USE ONLY ==<\/span><span>Source: AFP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>During his time in Utah, Ingles became one of the league\u2019s premier role players and shooters, with his best campaign coming in 2020-21 when he averaged 12.1 points, 4.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game while finishing runner-up in the NBA Sixth Man of the Year voting behind teammate Jordan Clarkson.<\/p>\n<p>Following his departure from the Jazz, Ingles also suited up for the Milwaukee Bucks, Orlando Magic and Timberwolves before deciding to bring his playing career back to Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Long before his NBA rise, Ingles was already building an impressive career in Europe. Across 102 games, Ingles averaged 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game while helping lead the Dragons to the 2009 NBL championship. So much has happened since then, but Melbourne has always felt like home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that reconnecting with family and the local community was a major factor behind the decision to return.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI still love competing, I still love the game, and I believe I can genuinely help this group win,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always enjoyed team-first environments built on toughness, connection and doing the little things well, and Melbourne United represents that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt this stage of my career, it\u2019s about impact, leadership and chasing something meaningful.
