Jos\u00e9 Mourinho is reportedly set to return to Real Madrid.<\/p>\n

According to ESPN, the 63-year-old has agreed to a two-year contract with the Spanish powerhouse, prematurely ending his tenure at Benfica. <\/p>\n

Mourinho was contracted at Benfica until 2027, with the Portuguese club set to receive \u20ac7 million (AU$11.3 million) in compensation.<\/p>\n

Benfica went unbeaten this season, but still finished third on the Primeira Liga standings behind Porto and Sporting Lisbon.<\/p>\n

\u2018The Special One\u2019 was previously in charge of Real Madrid from 2010 and 2013, winning one LaLiga title, one Copa del Rey and one Supercopa de Espa\u00f1a. Since his departure, he has coached Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham, Roma, Fenerbah\u00e7e and Benfica.<\/p>\n

Real Madrid has not won a major trophy in two years, eliminated from the Champions League quarterfinals by Bayern Munich, while the Spanish giants will finish second in this season\u2019s LaLiga.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, Mourinho confirmed his agent Jorge Mendes has been in contact with Real Madrid. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere is contact between the club and Jorge,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mourinho added: \u201cMy future should be decided this week.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa, who took charge of the club in January, declared he would be \u201chappy\u201d for Mourinho to replace him. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
