The Olympic 800m champion is riding high after shattering the <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/world-news\/\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">world<\/a> indoor record and claiming world indoor gold to add to her expanding medal haul earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">In the run-up to that triumph, she was seen marking her 24th birthday by World Athletics president <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/sebastian-coe\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">Seb Coe,<\/a> who has <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/sport\/other-sport\/athletics\/keely-hodgkinson-seb-coe-athletics-33971577\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">praised her grounded character,<\/a> describing her as the <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/sport\/other-sports\/athletics\/keely-hodgkinson-seb-coe-olympics-37145336\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">most &#8220;authentic person I currently know.&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Middle-distance legend Coe, who claimed 1500m gold at the 1980 and 1984 Olympics, told the <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@Untapped-Podcast\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\"><u>UNTAPPED<\/u><\/a> podcast: &#8220;I was on my way out. I&#8217;d sort of done the early shift and she turned up, and it was her birthday. I mean, she&#8217;d only just broken the indoor world record.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;She was only literally a few days away from destroying the field and winning her world indoor title and she was just out celebrating her birthday. We&#8217;re going out in <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/manchester\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Manchester<\/a> to [the Middle Eastern restaurant] Habbibi. Yeah, I&#8217;ll drink.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Hodgkinson has never felt as though her career has demanded any real sacrifices. She added: &#8220;It never felt like a sacrifice because it was something I wanted to do. I never felt like I was missing out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;My parents weren&#8217;t pushy, so I never felt I had to lie to them about where I was. I was living my best life at 15 when I was in school. There were parties every week.
