She has been on maternity leave since the start of 2025.

Temwa Chawinga now has five goals over two games and became the first Current player with multiple goals in consecutive matches. She is now outscoring all opponents at CPKC Stadium, 31-27.

Barbra Banda’s goal streak ended at three on Tuesday but she got back on the sheet Saturday and now has nine goals in 10 games. She leads the golden boot race from Ashley Sanchez (6) followed by Chawinga (5).

Marta’s penalty on Tuesday was her 15th conversion from 16 regular season attempts with the Pride. She has converted 12 in a row. Marta also converted a playoff penalty.

Janine Sonis had a brace for the second straight game to become the first Denver Summit player to do that. It took nine games into the Summit existence to do it. The Washington Spirit have played 286 regular season games and no player has ever done it.

Jordan Silkowitz ran her scoreless streak to 289 minutes before Amanda Gutierres beat her on a penalty. That is a Bay club record.

Mandy McGlynn took her personal shutout streak to 459 minutes before conceding against Louisville on Sunday. That is a team record. Some more contextualized team stats are below.

Seb Hines coached his 100th regular season game with the Pride over the weekend. His record is 45-34-21 and includes the 2024 Shield. Hines is the 6th coach to be at he helm with the same team for 100 games. The others are — Rory Dames (Red Stars, 182); Mark Parsons (Thorns, 116); Laura Harvey (Reign, 116 and 110); Paul Riley (Courage, 111); and Vlatko Andonovski (FC Kansas City, FC Kansas City, 110). Note that NWSL does not recognize the Western New York Flash and North Carolina Courage as a continuous club which would remove Riley from the list.

Kate Del Fava remains minute-perfect for the Royals having played all 5,580 over 62 games since the team launched in 2024. Before going to Utah, Del Fava played 46 straight games for the Current meaning her overall streak of consecutive games played is at 108 which is the second longest in league history behind Kaleigh Kurtz.

Kaleigh Kurtz has now played 123 consecutive regular season matches and hit the 11,000 minute mark, ending the weekend on 11,032 consecutive minutes. Both are far and away league records. The streaks began June 26, 2021 while playing for the Courage. (The unrounded number is due to a rain shortened match in 2023).

No NWSL players made league debuts during Week 8.

TEAM STATS

The Legacy have won two games this season with goals in stoppage time. Bay FC has yet to flip a result in the 90th minute or beyond.

The Washington Spirit had their five-game winning streak snapped in San Diego, settling for a tie of the team record set from 2021-22.

The Royals are now unbeaten in eight straight, tying the club record set last year.

The Royals also took their shutout record to a lofty 536 minutes. It included five consecutive shutouts and also spanned two keepers. Mia Justus had things locked down across 190 minutes before a calf injury gave way to Mandy McGlynn.

Angel City’s record four-game losing streak is over after a 0-0 draw in Portland but they remain winless in five games after a 3-0-0 start.

The Pride’s Tuesday loss came on a stoppage-time winner. It was the first time the Pride lost or gave up a lead in the 90th minute or stoppage time since April 15, 2023, against Gotham. That match actually ended 2-0 when Gotham scored in the 10th and 17th minutes of stoppage. It also happened twice in Challenge Cup matches later in 2023.

Tuesday’s loss was also the Pride’s 50th regular season away loss.

The Stars have been shutout four times in a row for the first time as an NWSL club. They have also been blanked eight times which ties last year’s mark for most times shutout in a season. The minute streak went down this weekend as well. They have not scored in 399 minutes.

The Reign have (still) not scored since March. They have been shutout five straight times and for the last 499 minutes. It marks the second time since 2024 they have endured five games without a goal. In 24th minute, the minute streak hit 504.

And just like that, Temwa Chawinga enters the chat 💪

Here’s where the Golden Boot race stands after Matchweek 8. pic.twitter.com/ShyS8v7XJT

— National Women’s Soccer League (@NWSL) May 19, 2026

Source link

© Ron Chenoy-Imagn Images Here’s a look at some stats and minutiae following Week 8 of the 2026 National Women’s Soccer League season.
