The ranking evaluates players based solely on their performance throughout their first six to eight matches played. The Washington Spirit and San Diego Wave led the way with four players selected and the Portland Thorns had three players chosen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Washington Spirit\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Four players from the Washington Spirit were selected to ESPN\u2019s top 25. They currently sit at no. 4 in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nwslsoccer.com\/standings\/index\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NWSL standings<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> after dropping to the top-seeded San Diego Wave. The Spirit had three players in the top half of ESPN\u2019s rankings. This included forwards <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/soccer\/player\/stats\/_\/id\/347222\/rosemonde-kouassi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rosemonde Kouassi<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ranked no. 3) and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/soccer\/player\/matches\/_\/id\/317423\/trinity-rodman\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trinity Rodman<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ranked no. 12) and midfielder <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/219866\/leicy-santos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leicy Santos<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ranked no. 8).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While Kousassi has not scored yet this season, she has three assists and has been a key component to Washington\u2019s offense. Rodman has been on fire as of late, securing three goals and three assists over a span of three games. Morgan steadies the Washington defense and ranks high in defense interventions among other players in her position.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>San Diego Wave\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The San Diego Wave also had four players named to ESPN\u2019s top 25, including two of the top four players. After beating the Spirit on May 15, the Wave have sole possession of the top spot in the NWSL standings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DYSd2y5vyoJ\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\"\/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Forward <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/351900\/dudinha\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dudinha<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ranked no. 2) and midfielder <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/219119\/kenza-dali\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kenza Dali<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ranked no. 4) were the Wave\u2019s highest ranked players. Dudinha\u2019s ability to put defenders in compromising positions has helped her score three goals and land four assists this season. Dali\u2019s precision in the passing game has earned her a high spot on this list. Defender <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/326356\/kennedy-wesley\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kennedy Wesley<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ranked no. 11) has made a name for herself so far this season as a two-way player. She also leads the league in completed passes and touches. San Diego\u2019s final player on this list is midfielder <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/307433\/lia-godfrey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lia Godfrey<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ranked no. 18). Fellow midfielder <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/219768\/jessie-fleming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jessie Fleming<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ranked no. 13) and forward <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/396456\/pietra-tordin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pietra Tordin<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ranked no. 10) also made the list for the Thorns.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moultrie\u2019s 2026 campaign has earned her a spot in the NWSL MVP conversation. She is tied with Dudhina for most assists so far this season. Fleming has stepped up in the midfield and sits at fifth in the NWSL for defensive interventions. Tordin has carried the load this season as teammate Sophia Wilson returns to form.
