The vacancy at the Estadio da Luz opened when Jos\u00e9 Mourinho confirmed his departure to rejoin Real Madrid.<\/p>\n

Negotiations between Benfica and Silva have moved quickly, facilitated by agent Jorge Mendes and his deep connections to the club.<\/p>\n

Reports in Portugal<\/a> indicate that Silva will sign a two-year deal with the option of a third season, and is willing to accept a significant pay cut from the annual salary he currently earns at Fulham to make the move happen.<\/p>\n
