Speaking to Brazilian network Ge, Zogaib confirmed the extent of the injury. He said (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.in\/football\/story\/_\/id\/48830016\/neymar-suffers-calf-injury-miss-santos-games-ahead-world-cup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">via ESPN<\/a>):<\/p>\n<p><template id=\"template__newsletter-inline-banner-form-combo-widget\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"wrapper\">\n<p><img id=\"subscribe-img\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\nThanks for the submission!\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/template><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Neymar has a minor calf injury, an edema.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Despite the setback, Zogaib insisted that the star forward will be able to join the Selecao squad on May 27, when Brazil national team will start preparations for the World Cup:<\/p>\n<p><template id=\"also-read-articles-template\"><\/p>\n<p><\/template><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;But, according to our planning, his progress will allow him to be fit next week when he will join up with the national team.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The confirmation of the injury comes just 2 days after his inclusion in Carlo Ancelotti&#8217;s squad. Neymar reportedly picked up the knock in Santos&#8217; 3-0 loss against Coritiba on Sunday before the national team call up. He was then left out of Santos&#8217; 2-2 draw against San Lorenzo in the Copa Sudamericana.<\/p>\n<p>Recent reports suggest Ancelotti and his team were worried about the Brazilian star&#8217;s availability for their pre-tournament friendlies in the hours leading up to the final roster announcement.<\/p>\n<p>The 34-year-old star is expected to miss Santos&#8217; next games against Gremio on Saturday and against Deportivo Cuenca on Tuesday to help with his rehabilitation. He is then expected to link up with the Brazil squad on May 27 before their friendly against Panama on May 31.<\/p>\n<p>Brazil are in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
