Tottenham’s 1-0 victory over Everton at the other end of London confirmed what had felt inevitable \u2014 the Hammers are relegated.<\/p>\n

It is the end of a 14-year stay in the Premier League<\/a>, and the highest points total for a relegated side in 15 years, which offers scant consolation to a fanbase left devastated by a season of underperformance, internal chaos and missed opportunities.<\/p>\n

Now, the fallout has begun.<\/p>\n

Sky Sports<\/a> and many other outlets have reported today that Nuno Esp\u00edrito Santo<\/a> was called into crisis talks with the West Ham hierarchy, with widespread expectation that the 52-year-old will be dismissed imminently.<\/p>\n

West Ham hold a clause in Nuno’s contract that allows them to terminate the agreement without compensation following relegation, and the Portuguese is also free to walk away on the same terms.<\/p>\n

Either way, his eight-month tenure \u2014 12 wins from 37 games since replacing Graham Potter in late September \u2014 looks likely to be over.<\/p>\n

Nuno inherited a squad already in trouble when he arrived, and a squad which will likely be dismantled<\/a> after the drop.<\/p>\n

Parker left Burnley in April after the Clarets’ own relegation was confirmed, and he is currently weighing up his next move.<\/p>\n

The prospect of returning to the London Stadium \u2014 where he spent four years as a player between 2007 and 2011, winning the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year award in his final season \u2014 is understood to hold deep personal appeal.<\/p>\n

TEAMtalk<\/a> report that sporting director Mark Noble is particularly enthusiastic about the idea.<\/p>\n

Noble and Parker were midfield partners during their time together in east London, and the mutual respect between the pair could prove decisive in any appointment process.<\/p>\n

His track record of going down to the second tier and coming straight back up is exactly the profile West Ham need.<\/p>\n

The talks with Nuno will likely be resolved within hours.<\/p>\n

After that, the search for his replacement begins in earnest. Parker, it seems, is ready and waiting.<\/p>\n
