Matildas star Mary Fowler and her Manchester City women\u2019s team completed a double by thrashing Brighton 4-0 to lift the FA Cup on Sunday.<\/p>\n

After securing a first Women\u2019s Super League title for 10 years, Fowler\u2019s City side had too much firepower for a Brighton team, coached by Aussie Dario Vidosic, that had reached the FA Cup final for the first time. Fowler came on as a second-half substitute.<\/p>\n

The victory completes a superb season for 23-year-old Fowler, who has now claimed her first major trophies in professional football and signed a $10m deal with Adidas \u2014 having made a successful return from an ACL injury.<\/p>\n

The Seagulls started brightly at Wembley but never recovered once City\u2019s taliswoman Khadija Shaw opened the scoring.<\/p>\n

A three-time WSL Golden Boot winner, Shaw ended speculation over her future on Monday by signing a new four-year deal that will reportedly make her the highest paid player in the women\u2019s game.<\/p>\n

The Jamaican international showed why she is so highly valued by beating goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie to Alex Greenwood\u2019s cross to power in a header.<\/p>\n

Nnadozie then failed to keep out Greenwood\u2019s low free-kick as City doubled their lead before halftime.<\/p>\n

Substitute Aoba Fujino added a third in the second half after more good work by Shaw to tee up the Japan international.<\/p>\n

Fowler, who has battled back to full fitness after a knee reconstruction left her sidelined until February, came on in the 78th minute.<\/p>\n

Vivianne Miedema rounded off the scoring three minutes from time.<\/p>\n

City\u2019s four FA Cup triumphs have all come in the past nine years after also lifting the trophy in 2017, 2019 and 2020.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
