Cavallar takes control of the chase, bringing De Schepper back.<br \/>And once again Reusser&#8217;s group gets back on, Dickson going to the front and to work.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:53:30+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:53:30.515Z<\/time><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-97432824-5a03-44c3-9411-b4a872f7d34f\">Trinca Colonel has a good gap here and Van der Breggen is forced to lead the chase, with Longo Borghini, Vollering, Niedermaier and Holmgren on her wheel. She might have been better advised to keep that car up her sleeve until the next tie round, but she still may stay away.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:48:23+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:48:23.939Z<\/time><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-59146907-dab9-43f4-a1a9-4de90c1150dc\">Through the village of Costalta and this is the final technical section of the descent. This will be ridden again, 8km from the finish.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:46:17+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:46:17.741Z<\/time><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-94d56cdd-dcd1-40d3-90f7-e7db62c61dae\">The pace has really dropped at the front and the Reusser group is about to regain contact.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:45:18+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:45:18.780Z<\/time><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-3705d9cf-02ec-41c5-be7b-2d195fbcaa8a\">There are some real heroic rides out there, Nadia Gontova and Lauren Dickson are certainly two.<br \/>Dickson is back on the front working for Vollering. Remember, Dickson wasn&#8217;t even racing bikes two-and-a-half years ago.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:42:24+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:42:24.413Z<\/time><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-dd7cd413-e262-4245-8329-dad8a51867f1\">Vollering leads an expanded front group on the plateau after the top of the climb, the descent begins shortly. <br \/>Longo Borghini is one of the riders to have caught that group. Reusser, however, is almost a minute behind.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:37:53+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:37:53.580Z<\/time><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-9514a90b-6b73-4fab-9ba7-ab34aeb9385d\">The shallow descent will help Cavallar stay in contact, we saw on the last downhill that she struggles a little, but if she can stay in she can help Van der Breggen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:36:34+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:36:34.436Z<\/time><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-9fabf2d5-f020-4d49-af9b-f4c7eec78057\">The ascent of Costa might be full of hairpins, but the descent isn&#8217;t technical, partly because it&#8217;s so shallow, just an average of -2.7%, including a plateau.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:35:30+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:35:30.805Z<\/time><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-e06e3f63-6ad3-48f3-9f73-d6e15b980abb\">Vollering is nailing this over the summit, but the group remains intact.<br \/>Longo Borghini is one of the great descenders, so may get back on. Reusser, though is 40 seconds back.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:34:21+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:34:21.239Z<\/time><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-fc1d58b1-191d-4d02-921a-f21c885725d0\">Dickson has been dropped so it&#8217;s Vollering taking up the pace on the front of the group, Van der Breggen is still there as is Holmgren, Niedermaier and Cavallar.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:32:55+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:32:55.960Z<\/time><br \/>\n<a id=\"elk-40-km-to-go\"\/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"article-body__section\" id=\"section-40-km-to-go\"><span>40 km to go <\/span><\/h3>\n<p id=\"elk-3c4fe3ee-3f57-4b63-a0bc-b7f5e34cd49c\">Reusser is dropped, or at least preserving her energy, while Longo Borghini is doggedly fight her way back to the leaders&#8217; group.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:30:56+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:30:56.453Z<\/time><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-0f192361-a253-4049-856f-ce9c932eb9cf\">Van der Breggen is back with the front group, led once again by Dickson. Both Longo Borghini and Reusser are off the back of that group. Of course Reusser is another rider whose spring has been disrupted by injury.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:28:26+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:28:26.632Z<\/time><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-0e3644b4-d3fe-496f-800d-967c42649c8e\">All change. Dickson drops back the 10 seconds from the front and paces team mate Vollering. This ups the pace and Van der Breggen is dropped with Reusser.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:27:32+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:27:32.437Z<\/time><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-05ff53c3-5d50-4537-a32a-83c0caf3aee5\">Vollering still leads, while Bunel has been caught from the breakaway.<br \/>Best young rider, Isabella Holmgren was dropped with Longo Borghini, but her Lidl-Trek team mate, Niamh Fisher-Black is still with Vollering.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:25:54+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:25:54.870Z<\/time><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-30e744eb-024a-4243-ade0-e99c20e60b80\">Attack from Vollering on the climb. Her group had swollen very quickly as the pace dropped, but it&#8217;ll thin now with the European champion on the front. <br \/>Longo Borghini is struggling with these attacks, though it must be remembered that she lost a chunk of the spring to illness.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:23:24+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:23:24.847Z<\/time><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-16eed3b7-701f-4e06-a80c-53c8df3bb640\">Van der Breggen leads the favourites&#8217; group which is less than 20 seconds behind the leaders and has thinned out considerably.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:22:26+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:22:26.851Z<\/time><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-62c2c5ba-0902-4874-bc56-9033508f043f\">Trinca Colonel and Gontova are together, just off the back of the Dickson group.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:21:37+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:21:37.740Z<\/time><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-b04035c9-b526-4c9f-a6b1-2cdc9f7fbc7b\">At the bottom of the climb and the favourites&#8217; group is quite large, though Trinca Colonel has got off the front and is trying to catch the break which has re-formed, including her team mate, Nadia Gontova<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:19:51+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:19:51.045Z<\/time><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-74c86851-a9bc-416f-9a13-8790144463e1\">At the front Bunel and Dickson are off the front on that decent, but they&#8217;re about to hit the next climb.<br \/>We&#8217;ve joined the closing loop, but it&#8217;s straight uphill for the climb to Costa. This is a 3rd category ascent, covering 4.3km at average of 8.6%. And yes, they do ride it twice.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:18:05+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:18:05.792Z<\/time><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-21df18c5-ca09-4438-a0c7-ce885fd2869c\">The breakaway is splitting on the descent, with Cavallar and Gontova distanced slightly, but the favourites are closing in very quickly.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:14:16+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:14:16.523Z<\/time><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-a4156b64-269e-4280-9de9-90e2ab4185b0\">The favourites picked up some of the dropped breakaway riders on the descent, so that group is swelling as the deficit to the breakaway group drops below one minute.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wcp-item-content\">\n<time class=\"no-wrap live-feed-date\" datetime=\"2026-06-03T14:12:19+00:00\">2026-06-03T14:12:19.329Z<\/time><br \/>\n<a id=\"elk-50km-to-go\"\/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"article-body__section\" id=\"section-50km-to-go\"><span>50km to go <\/span><\/h3>\n<p id=\"elk-41d2f23d-ea01-4e09-8353-3428a8e9d12a\">The favourites are on the descent too. It&#8217;s around 9km downhill, with a plateau in the middle.
