Sure, the Tour de France is the biggest race in cycling. But the Tour has expanded far beyond its racing origins to become a catalyst for cycling culture across communities worldwide. For instance, through their “Cycle City” network, over 200 cities have earned recognition for their commitment to cycling infrastructure… as well as their programs that support transportation, recreation, and sport.<\/p>\n
This past weekend, 38 “F\u00eates du Tour” celebrations took place in host towns. This brings cycling festivities directly to local communities as part of the broader “Mai \u00e0 V\u00e9lo” initiative. <\/p>\n
The organization also promotes sustainable transportation at race events, providing secure bike parking and encouraging spectators to arrive by bicycle, train, or carpool.<\/p>\n
