Manchester United<\/a> have a \u201cclear plan\u201d and will not allow market forces or agents to dictate their summer transfer plans, chief executive Omar Berrada has said.<\/p>\n

Berrada is confident the club can strengthen further after last year\u2019s successful recruitment drive, when they signed Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens.<\/p>\n

United are understood to have already agreed a \u00a335million fee with Atalanta for Brazilian midfielder Ederson and more additions are expected.<\/p>\n

Berrada told the Inside Carrington podcast: \u201cI think the template of what we did last summer will be replicated.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a clear plan. I do think what we saw last season is a good way forward for us, which is we want a mix of experience and youth, we want a mix of players who have demonstrated they can perform in the Premier League and perhaps also players who are doing very well outside the Premier League.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut we will always do it within our terms, ensuring that whatever decision we take is not just for the short term, but also for the long term.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to be really disciplined, it\u2019s simple. We know what we can invest and we have to stick to that.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very important that you don\u2019t let the market or the agents dictate what we should be doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

United confirmed the appointment of Michael Carrick as their permanent head coach last month.<\/p>\n

The 44-year-old impressed after taking interim charge following the sacking of Ruben Amorim in January, securing third place in the Premier League and Champions League qualification.<\/p>\n

United want to make a number of additions to their midfield.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Berrada said: \u201cI think he\u2019s earned the right to continue leading the team over the next two years or more.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would describe him as somebody who is very calm but also very driven and I\u2019m sure he\u2019ll do everything he can, him and his staff, to make sure that we have a successful team next season and the year after that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think when we look at the squad and what we\u2019re trying to do over the next two years, he does bring the right attributes, the right ingredients, character, understanding of the club to help us navigate through the next steps of our journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

United have already agreed their first signing of the summer, with Atalanta midfielder Ederson set to join<\/a> to reinforce Carrick’s options in the centre of the park.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils aren’t stopping there however, with suggestions they could bring in as many as three new midfielders in the wake of Casemiro’s departure, and Fabrizio Romano<\/a> has confirmed they are still ‘really interested’ in Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson.<\/p>\n

Speaking in his latest Youtube video, the reporter said rivals Manchester City have launched their first bid for the 23 year-old, with Forest rejecting the offer and set to demand in excess of \u00a3100m.<\/p>\n

That could allow for United to swoop in, as Romano reveals they are still monitoring developments and have not given up on the chance of hijacking City’s interest.<\/p>\n

Anderson is expected to star for England at this summer’s World Cup having scored four times and provided four assists in 38 Premier League matches this season.<\/p>\n
