class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Well, Paul was reading, and here\u2019s your answer:<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Someone \u00a0asked in the comments why I didn\u2019t leave the Marzocci fork on the bike. \u00a0I wanted to spare you a collar bone break is the answer. \u00a0The Marzocci fork was only 80mm of travel so the bike had you tipped over the extremely tight front end as a starting position\u2026.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>I need you healthy to try out the next bike with the \u201cgame-changing\u201d wheel size.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I assume that means I\u2019ll be getting one of those the cycling world brave enough to speak up about the pointlessness of ultra-endurance cycling<\/a>, though certainly I feel differently about <a the velocipede, riding one around the world is probably the most pointless, for the simple reason that <em>you can\u2019t ride a bicycle around the world<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You know, because like 70% of the world is water, and nobody\u2019s doing this on an amphibious bicycle:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-9-16 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Schiller Pontoon Bike #watertoys #lakelife #watersports #outdoors But you know what? On Sunday, she plans to set out again from Chicago, and if all goes according to plan she will finish in the same city on Aug. 24 after 78 days, breaking the record set by Mark Beaumont of Britain in 2017 by a half day.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please, don\u2019t mistake my contempt for these sorts of stunts as ill will.  I want all these professional vacationers to achieve their goals and, most importantly, arrive at their destinations safely and in good health. I know how hard it is: It\u2019s two and a half months of suffering.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oh please.  Two and a half months at pretty much any normal job involves way more suffering than riding a bicycle \u201caround the world.\u201d  Why do you think these people do it? Shouldn\u2019t you just be able to ride around the Kissena Velodrome 80,000 times?  Well, here are the rules according to Guinness World Records:<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Since a true circumnavigation is impossible by bike, Guinness World Records has established some rules for a ride to qualify as \u201cgoing around the world.\u201d Riders must complete at least 18,000 miles, travel in one direction and finish where they started. They also must pass two points that are antipodal, or located exactly opposite each other on the globe.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dear Lob, it\u2019s 2026!
