Indiana Fever<\/a> guard Caitlin Clark played hero on Monday against the Washington Mystics<\/a>.<\/p>\n The third-year WNBA star hit the winning three for the Fever in a 78-76 win over the Mystics, draining one of her patented long-range shots with 1.2 seconds left for an early signature moment following an inefficient start to the season.<\/p>\n Clark finished with a game-high 19 points, making 4-of-10 of her three-pointers and adding five assists for Indiana’s first road win since May 13.<\/p>\n Clark’s massive 31-foot make saved the Fever (6-5) from falling below .500, but arguably even more importantly, it could be a spark for the 2024 Rookie of the Year after entering the game shooting 37.7 percent for the season, including 32.4 percent from beyond the arc.<\/p>\n It also made up for Clark, a career 88.8 percent free-throw shooter, missing two attempts from the foul line with 36 seconds left and trailing by one, 74-73.<\/p>\n She ended up wide-open on the attempt after Mystics guard Cotie McMahon played for a deflection, sending her beyond the play. Without a secondary defender to switch onto Clark, the two-time All-Star had plenty of space and made Washington pay.\u00a0<\/p>\n The result should help quiet concerns after a rocky start to the season.
