While speaking with reporters on Thursday, Minnesota Vikings<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson<\/a> made it known<\/a> that he understands it will be his “coach’s call” regarding whether free-agency signing\u00a0<\/span>Kyler Murray<\/a> or 2024 first-round draft pick\u00a0<\/span>J.J. McCarthy<\/a> is ultimately named the team’s Week 1 starting quarterback.\u00a0<\/p>\n Also on Thursday, Vikings receiver Jordan Addison\u00a0<\/a>indicated he already has solid chemistry with Murray.<\/p>\n “I\u2019ll say it\u2019s been good,” Addison said about his working relationship with Murray, per Eduardo Razo<\/a> of Heavy. “Kyler is a lot of fun to work with. He\u2019s smart. He\u2019s talented. He\u2019s obviously a veteran and somebody that I can learn under, and he can learn from me as well because I\u2019ve been in the offense for a little bit. I\u2019m honestly just ready to roll\u2026”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n The perception<\/a> has existed for some time that Murray is the favorite to win the competition. However, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell confirmed on Thursday<\/span><\/a> that he would not be naming a QB1 before the NFL’s<\/span><\/a> summer break.<\/p>\n Murray raised some eyebrows when he sounded\u00a0<\/span>frustrated<\/a> this week over the fact that he is having to learn a new offense while also splitting reps with McCarthy.<\/p>\n “We\u2019re both learning from each other and feeding off each other,” Addison added about Murray on Thursday. “He\u2019s asking me questions, and I\u2019m asking him questions. When I\u2019m running through my routes, I\u2019m asking him what he sees. It\u2019s just constant feedback and constant learning.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Before the Vikings officially signed Murray, the previously mentioned Jefferson\u00a0seemed to take some\u00a0<\/span>veiled<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>shots at McCarthy this past winter. It sounds like Addison is hyped that Murray is now on the Vikings’ roster.\u00a0<\/p>\n “I was excited just to add to that room,” Addison said about the club’s quarterback situation. “I\u2019ll just say that I was excited and excited to see this competition play out come July and August. It\u2019s a competition for everybody, not just that room. Nobody\u2019s job is guaranteed.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Murray and McCarthy are both expected<\/a> to complete throwing sessions with teammates during the summer.
