Teenage sprint sensation Gout Gout<\/a> has flown home to finish third behind his training mate and new 150m world record holder Noah Lyles at the Golden Spike track and field meet in Ostrava.<\/p>\n

Paris Olympics gold medallist Lyles clocked 14.67 seconds in the rarely-contested distance, smashing the previous previous mark of 14.92 set by Jamaica\u2019s Kishane Thompson earlier this year in Florida.<\/p>\n

Second-placed South African Sinesipho Dambile (14.78) also dipped under Thompson\u2019s previous record, while the fast-finishing Gout was third in a national record of 14.96.<\/p>\n

It was a huge improvement on Gout\u2019s Diamond League debut last week in Oslo, when the 18-year-old struggled out of the blocks and could only finish sixth in the 200m.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is definitely a race I was needing after Oslo, and I am glad I got it, and I am ready for more,\u201d told the Straight At It podcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cUsually when I get a bad start it\u2019s hard for me to come back, but today I got an OK start and I brought it home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Gout smashed his own Australian 200m record<\/a> with a time of 19.67 at the national championships in Sydney.<\/p>\n

It was faster than the legendary Usain Bolt had run at the same age.<\/p>\n

The flying Queenslander has decided to skip the upcoming Glasgow Commonwealth Games to focus on the 200m at Under-20 world championships in Oregon.<\/p>\n

US star Lyles, 28, won the 100m at the Paris Games and is a multiple world champion over 100m and 200m.<\/p>\n

He and Gout embraced after crossing the finish line in Ostrava. The pair have regularly trained together at Lyles\u2019s US base.<\/p>\n

In other action at the Golden Spike meet on Tuesday night (Wednesday morning AEST), Australian Peter Bol won the 1000m in two minutes 15.13 seconds, also bettering the Australian record in a non-championship event.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
