Until June 30th, 2026, every $5 donated to the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship\u2019s (SBTS) 5 Bucks a Foot campaign gets you a chance to win this one-of-a-kind, custom-outfitted Evil Chamois Hagar. Proceeds from this fundraising campaign will be used to support SBTS\u2019s mission of strengthening communities through trails. Specifically, these funds will go directly toward work on numerous trail projects that are part of SBTS\u2019s ambitious, multi-year Connected Communities Project<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With bike frames, components, and accessories donated by SBTS\u2019s industry partners, the 5 Bucks a Foot campaigns are a great way to raise funds for ongoing and future trail projects, while also providing a serious incentive to donate. The Bike<\/h2>\n

What Your Donation Supports<\/h2>\n

Donations directly support the work of the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship to strengthen mountain communities, using trails as the tool. Specifically, dollars raised from this campaign will help us move forward on several trail projects that are part of Connected Communities\u2014a community-driven long-term vision to connect 15 mountain towns via multi-use singletrack. <\/em><\/p>\n

While the existing 800 miles of doubletrack roads allow for exploration now, Connected Communities aims to complete 527 miles of singletrack route to further establish thriving, recreation-based economies in the rural mountain towns of the Lost Sierra. It also includes new trail development and construction guidelines focused on fuels reduction and forest restoration through <\/em>Fire Hardened Trails<\/em><\/a>, plans for new trailhead infrastructure, and recreation zones that identify future trail projects in select communities.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Trail projects these dollars will support in 2026 include finishing the long-awaited final quarter-mile of <\/em>Beckwourth Peak<\/em><\/a> project in Portola\u2014a 13.5-mile non-motorized lollipop trail that starts at Portola City Park\u2014completing the Verdi Ridge trail in the <\/em>East Zone Connectivity Project<\/em><\/a> to eventually connect Truckee all the way up to Reno via singletrack, as well as laying the groundwork for the <\/em>Cottonwood Connectivity Project<\/em><\/a> in the Sierra Valley.<\/em><\/p>\n

How It Works<\/h2>\n

The 5 Bucks a Foot Gravel fundraising campaign runs between Wednesday, June 10, and Tuesday, June 30, and for every foot of trail purchased at $5 per foot (the average cost of building a trail), participants get a chance to win. The more feet of trail you buy, the better your chances of winning. The winner will be drawn using a random number generator and announced via email and social media. This campaign is open to U.S. and international entries. The winner will be able to select the frame size of their choice: small through XL.<\/em><\/p>\n
