Liverpool<\/a> did not need to think twice when weighing up a bid for Osasuna’s Victor Munoz, hijacking Newcastle United’s top target once again.<\/p>\n

Crystal Palace insist that they have not received any formal approaches from suitors, but intrigue is still intensifying, and Liverpool have engaged in discussions with the player’s camp over the past few weeks, considered among the favourites to complete a deal.<\/p>\n

Valued at \u00a370m, Wharton’s future at Selhurst Park is uncertain now that Oliver Glasner has left the club. Moreover, his omission from Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions World Cup squad could see him warm to the idea of moving to Merseyside pretty quickly.<\/p>\n

Wharton, conversely, has been riding the crest of a wave with Crystal Palace, and he is now established as “one of the best – not just in England, but the world<\/a>“, according to Glasner.<\/p>\n
