Also: what took so long?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Riley, who plays third base, like Jones did during his iconic career, registered his first hit in four games during the Braves&#8217; 5-1 win against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/team\/st-louis-cardinals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">St. Louis Cardinals<\/a> on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The two-time All-Star slugger has just eight home runs this year and is on pace for one of the worst tallies of his career in a full season.<\/p>\n<h2>Braves star Austin Riley acknowledged &#8220;terrible&#8221; offensive season<\/h2>\n<p>The Braves&#8217; offense went through a slump in June with Austin Riley&#8217;s struggles at the plate drawing backlash from fans. The All-Star infielder acknowledged his underwhelming performances and hopes to turn things around.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cPersonally, it hasn\u2019t been good,\u201d Riley said. \u201cIt\u2019s been terrible. Awful, everything in between. I\u2019m just trying to figure it out, trying to get in a good position to be able to compete up there.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Obviously, (I\u2019m) not doing that right now. So, just trying to take it day-by-day and work every day with Tim (Hyers) and those guys, and in the cage.
