Will Kyler Murray<\/a> or J.J. McCarthy<\/a> of the Minnesota Vikings<\/a> get the start<\/a>? That’s what people are asking during the offseason.<\/p>\n

Murray probably wouldn’t have come to the Vikings<\/a> if he didn’t know he’d probably get the start. But, at one point, McCarthy was going to be the future of this franchise. So, it could go to either of these promising players.<\/p>\n

One NFL analyst thinks the McCarthy and Murray quarterback competition is going to get “ugly.” The NFL is pretty unforgiving at times. It’s do or die for these players, and that means the competition could get aggressive.<\/p>\n

Vikings quarterbacks Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy could be in a real competition<\/h2>\n

In a piece for CBS Sports, Carter Bahns broke\u00a0down the Murray and McCarthy situation<\/a> and why it may get contentious. He called it a “work in progress” and said the “quarterback competition could get ugly.”<\/p>\n

Why? He references earlier in the offseason when McCarthy described their relationship<\/a> as like “two guys in a classroom,” adding that “he sits on one side, I sit on the other side, and it’s the coach’s responsibility to teach us and coach us.”<\/p>\n

“Neither is owed the No. 1 quarterback role, but whoever loses it will have reason to be discontented,” Bahns said. “Murray is a seven-year starter who, at his best, produces among the league’s top half of signal-callers. McCarthy is a recent first-round pick who has arguably not received a fair shake due to injuries.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

So, don’t look now, but things are looking competitive between McCarthy and Murray. Someone is going to come out of it happy, and the other, not so much.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
